M1917A1 Helmet

This helmet is an original M1917A1 model used by the US Army during the interwar period and World War II, gradually replaced by the M1 model.

The helmet itself is in very good condition and complete. Inscriptions have been made on numerous occasions, including: “GEORGE A SORKVIST,” “32087399,” “261ST C.A.”.

This helmet belonged to George A. SORKVIST, a native of New York State, born in 1919 and enlisted in 1941. He served in a coastal artillery unit throughout World War II. He later became a police officer in New York City and passed away in 2008.
