Worn around the neck, the identity plate of the German army during the Second World War usually includes an individual code as well as the initials of the unit to which the bearer belongs. In case of death, it is cut in half. The first half remains on the deceased, the second is preserved and transmitted to the burial department. This reproduction is delivered blank of any inscription.
