M-1943 Folding shovel

The M43 folding shovel is gradually replacing the M-1910 straight shovel. It fits into a special canvas sheath equipped with a hook for attaching the set to a belt or a bag. This original example is in good condition; the markings are legible, and the date of manufacture—1943—is clearly visible. Used by the entire U.S. Army during World War II. A rare example dated 1943.
