US M-36 suspenders originals
This American Model 1936 sling attaches to the belt loops using hooks. The system allows the soldier to carry his personal equipment (shovel, canteen, magazine pouches, etc.). The rings are designed to hold the hooks of the M-1936 field pack. This type of shoulder strap was used by American paratroopers and, more broadly, by all U.S. Army personnel, particularly when they were not carrying the M-1928 field pack. This example is a field-used item; it has not been moved for over 80 years.
