"Deployed late December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge, then on March 24, 1945, during Operation Varsity that outflanked the German troops on the Rhine River, the 17th Airborne Division paid a heavy toll with 1,314 killed and 4,904 wounded. Since 2009, a remembrance march, the Dead Man’s Ridge Walk, is organized every year on the former battlefields in the presence of the last American veterans of the division and their descendants. 
The photos taken by Frédéric Pauwels, photo reporter, during these walks are a vibrant tribute to all those who sacrificed their youth for our freedom. This book is dedicated to them. To Never Forget."
